This is a real photo uploaded to the WIVB news site from one of their viewers: Christy Hazard. She is one of the freak lake effect snow storm victims in and around Buffalo, NY

I showed this photo and a couple of others that I saw from Buffalo to my youngest children this morning. I thought it would be a good lesson on being grateful and prayers to people that are having great difficulty, especially if the show is breaking in the house and locking you in.

Reminds me of an old Little House on the Prairie episode …….

The children responded in a way I had not even thought about.

“How cool is that?!”

“That is WAY Awesome!”

“When are we going to move to Buffalo?”

Their reasoning, of course was that they would be able to play in that snow instead of going to school. I told them that it was so high that some people could not even get out of their house and what if the electric went down?

They had an answer for that as well …. “we would build our legos!”

I knew I was not going to ‘win’ this debate. To them it was an awesome situation. I am sure the people in Buffalo do not think so at all right now. Of course several years down the road they will have quite the story about how each of them dealt with the incredible forces of nature.

One more reminder to me that it is all in the eye of the beholder. This whole walk, this thing we call life. What I think of one situation another person will have a totally different outlook.

A few nights ago there was a shooting in my town. The local University was put on lockdown. My son was coaching at the time and had to stay with his team while appropriate police escorts appeared. My son’s girlfriend lives very close to where the shooting happened and locked herself in her apt. Crazy. My son would text me telling me how the students were getting restless on lockdown. I told him that since it was for their own safety they should be grateful to have such precautions in place. His response was an “oh, yeah” type of response. Reminded me that when we are in the middle of any type of stressful situation sometimes we do not see the forest through the trees.

I did, however, contact a very special healing/prayer group. Amazing people that I have never met, except through an online connection. I sent a note that the town needed to be wrapped in love and they were “ON IT”. No questions. No advice for what I should or should not be feeling. No Drama. No Judgement for the situation and what should or should not be happening. Just, you want love, healing and prayers — YOU GOT IT. Beautiful.

Doesn’t take a lot to send some positive thoughts out to those who need some upliftment. Who will you choose to send a little Light to today?
