My biggest challenge of the day sometimes is NOT to take my children’s tantrums personally. No, I take that back. My biggest challenge of the day is not to take Anyone’s tantrums personally. People spout off, yell, call names, talk behind each other’s back, complain … just like children. I know my children sometimes do these things because they have no idea what to do with the tornado full of emotions they are feeling and the storm comes my direction. I have a choice then to be the calming, breezy warm front or an arctic weather blast. I can be the calm waters of a coral reef frequented by tourists or the Gulf of Mexico in the middle of a hurricane. All up to me. I have choices when confronted by adults that have unchecked emotional patterns as well. As adults, however, we have the ability to regulate, recognize and release safely emotions we may be feeling instead of creating stormy dilemmas for others. A shower full of love in any case will bring barometer readings to normal. Adults or children.
